About Erik

Erik Lawrence is an accomplished young musician who has made it his mission to re-ignite a passionate understanding of the Classical Arts.  Starting lessons at age 8, he quickly began to receive numerous accolades, including winning the Houston Young Artist Competition in three separate years, and twice becoming a finalist in the World Piano Pedagogy Competition.  His early years also saw instruction by renowned pedagogues and artists Jean-Philippe Collard, Jonathan Biss, and John Kimura Parker.  More recent tutors include Vladimir Feltsman, Alexander Korsantia, Mikhail Voskresensky, Matti Raekallio, and Richard Goode.

After studying with Dr. Robert Roux, Erik earned a Bachelor’s Degree cum laude from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.  He is currently studying with John O’Conor and performing in Toronto, Ontario in the Artist Degree program at the Royal Conservatory’s Glenn Gould School.  Erik’s lyrical and sensitive artistry has earned him performances with the Lake Charles Symphony, the Canadian Opera Company Recital Series, and recitals in Bergen and Texel, North Holland.
